Suncoast Parkway 2, Phase 3 will be a four-lane (two lanes in each direction) toll facility that extends from CR 486to US 19, approximately ten miles in Citrus County. Phase 3 is separated into Segments 3A and 3B, divided at CR495. Segment 3A will extend the Parkway from CR 486, completing the interchange constructed by Phase 2, and will build a partial interchange at CR 495. Segment 3B will extend the Parkway over CR 495 and complete the diamond interchange, continuing north and ultimately terminating at US 19 in Red Level. This portion of Suncoast Parkway 2 is in the design phase and will consist of the following: completion of the full interchange at CR 486 to accommodate northbound traffic; new interchanges at CR 495 and US 19; related drainage, lighting, highway signing, traffic signalization, guardrail, and sidewalks; the continuation of the Suncoast Trail, part of Florida’s Statewide Greenways and Trails System; and the realignment of W. Dunnellon Road (CR 488) to allow fora new interchange at SR 589/US 19.Suncoast Parkway 2 will serve expected future increases in traffic due to development throughout the region and provide a bypass route for through traffic thus relieving congestion from other State and County north-south roadways. The approved alignment for this project was included in the 1998 Project Development and Environment Study from US 98 to US 19, which was reevaluated in 2010, 2017, and most recently in 2022.
